Building a Clamp Rack Storage Solution

Updated: Dec 12, 2023

Do you have too many clamps? Of course not. But do you have them organized. Me either. Here is a clamp rack storage solution build.

Steve Moseley - Making at Home

This video was made in partnership with BESSEY Tool.

“I have way too many clamps!” said no one ever! You probably know as well as we do that it can be tempting to accumulate a ton of woodworking clamps. You can never have enough! That may be true, but what is also true is that having a lot of clamps means needing a lot of clamp storage. Tripping over clamps in the shop is no joke so this video from Steve with Making at Home will show you exactly how to make a rock solid clamp storage solution.

Some of Steve’s most utilized clamps are the 12" Bessey EHK Trigger Clamps, KBody clamps, and the UniKlamps. Prepare for clamp inception as we see firsthand how we use the clamps themselves to make the storage for them. It’s easy to see the times when a trigger clamp is your best bet for a quick extra pair of hands and when it is a better idea to reach for the parallel jaw clamps.

Decide if you would rather get organized with a french cleat system to allow for versatility as your clamp or tool collection grows or if you might just secure this clamp rack directly to the wall. Either way, Steve shows us the options available to us and he made plans available for free for TMCU members.

Consider enrolling in TMCU for full access to all of the educational content and follow along with Steve for more tips and tricks on how to:

  • streamline the workflow at the table saw to save time and still achieve excellent results

  • use a basic woodshop object (hint: it rhymes with shoe throttle) to get a quick radius

  • effectively use double-sided tape for combining cuts

  • strategically apply finish prior to assembly

  • utilize basic painter’s tape to aid with alignment for assembly
